劇情吸引人，專業拍攝水準的短片－The Library

新銳導演 Jason LaMotte 在 Kickstarter^[1] 籌資拍攝的短片 The Library 在10月底發佈了，這部短片未來會參加一些電影獎項的角逐。在尚未了解短片製作的背景前，我還以為是那一個圖書館的微電影，但拍攝實在太專業了，推薦各位可以花個20分鐘看一下這短片。

影片描寫一位13歲中學女孩 Emily 在圖書館所發生或遇到的愛情故事。Emily 每天放學後會騎著自行車去圖書館，且每次都坐在固定的位子上。某天開始，她陸續收到仰慕者在桌上所留下紙條，紙條上寫著索書號，找到書並打開書中夾著另一紙條的位置，對應出浪漫的詩句。Emily開始想是不是鄰桌2個男孩其中1位留給她的。接連幾次，Emily每次都有點期待，也很興奮，直到有一次 Emily 發現事情的真相…(見文後)

導演，也是此片的編劇，在 Kickstarter 上推薦這部短片的幾個原因：

• 這部影片描寫文學及圖書館
• 傳達了對失智證的關懷
• 主角是2位女性，很少有影片如此做
• 專業拍攝團隊
• 一部美麗、感人的影片

真相：
As the film plays out, we discover along with Emily that it has been neither of the two boys, but actually a very different library regular, 80-year-old Ruth, whom Emily finds at the end of the film, reading one of the passages to her husband John. We realise in short order that he has advanced dementia, and that Ruth was recreating the way that he courted her so many years ago – in that exact library, and with those precise books. She tries to jog her husband’s memory, and at one point catches young Emily’s eye, “I would hope that any young girl with love in her heart would be as lucky as I was."

看完這影片後，您覺得如何呢? 影片裡飾演 Emily的 Missy Keating 並不是素人，她是愛爾蘭男子樂團男孩特區(Boyzone)成員 Ronan Keating 的女兒。
