Libraries Unleashed

英國的 Guardian 與 Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) 一起合作並出版了標題為 “Libraries Unleashed" 的特刊，內容包含與圖書館、技術相關的文章共 18篇。這些文章的按下面的類別編排：

• Colleges, universities and the digital challenge 學院、大學和數位挑戰
• Learning spaces 學習空間/環境
• Library 2.0 圖書館2.0
• New business models 新的經營模式
• Digitisation 數位化
• The new user 新使用者
• Librarians 圖書館員

這份特刊在一開始就引用去年(2007) JISC 針對 Google 世代所做的一份報告內容 (The Google Generation Report)，指稱 Google 世代的使用者對於網路上的資訊缺乏批判及分析能力 …，而這些所謂的 Google 世代從大學生到教授都有。

不過 Brian Kelly 在評論此一特刊時，並不完全同意這樣的看法。他認為從網頁的搜尋及瀏覽仍能獲得很多有用的資訊。他並以到台灣出席 2008數位典藏國際研討會 之前，透過 google 的搜尋來訂飯店、找地圖、及其他有關台灣的資訊…等為列來說明:

We should all be developing skills in using search engines such as Google and in interpretting the results we find, as the vast majority of us will turn to the Web to support our social activities, personal finances, etc. And to suggest that a quality, peer-reviewed and safe environment will solve all of our needs is clearly wrong.

在談及新媒體或新網路時代的資訊素養，Brian Kelly 提到了一本新書：
