Google Book Settlement 聽證會將延期

在美國司法部(DOJ) 於上週針對Google 圖書和解方案 (Google Book Settlement) 提出意見(pdf) 並促法院否決此和解案後，Google 已於日前向法院申請(pdf) 將原訂於10月7日舉行的聽證會延期，並著手修改和解案內容。

Library Journal 簡要報導了美國司法部長達32頁的意見書(Statement of Interest) 內容，總結出幾個重點，詳細內容請看文末的連結：

• Settlement in current form should be rejected
• Delays likely
• More competition for institutional databasee
• Need to address concerns of rightsholders

然司法部的意見中也關切了反托拉斯問題、圖書館訂閱、未來使用…等議題，並希望 Google 可以修改和解案內容。果然，現在一切都按照劇本來… :) 整個和解案的過程雖連續劇般，但其結果將對許多的產業(包括圖書館) 產生重大的影響，實在值得密切注意。
