會不會覺得圖書館工作很繁重,但怎麼進館人數、資源使用率都還是不高? 圖書館花了絕大部分的時間在採購、組織整理資源,但在推廣上卻明顯的不足。雖然有參考服務或推廣單位,但感覺上比較像客服部門,欠缺企業界裡的行銷部門。當然,行銷不只是光靠一些網路上的工具,還是得靠腦子裡的創意。
至於為什麼圖書館要搞行銷推廣呢? Stephen Abram 也幫大家先想好了幾個理由:
- Generate positive feeling about the library
- Increase use of the library.
- Increase awareness of current library programs and services.
- Increase awareness of new library programs and services.
- Cause an action (e.g. return overdues, register, get a card).
- Raise funds, get a new branch, support the library campaign, etc.
- Achieve a political goal. (contact the mayor)
